This is not necessarily an original idea. In fact, there are already several blogs dedicated to this very thing.
The first time I was introduced to a painting a day was as a freshman at the Kansas City Art Institute in the late 80's. There was a second semester workshop called, A Painting A Day.
I have always been intrigued by this idea and have tried it to incorporate in into my making over the years but have never been successful. Petering out after a couple of months.
The new year is always a time for resolutions. This is mine. A small 2" x 2" square piece of something with marks on it made by my hand everyday. To call it a drawing, painting, or a collage suggests weight. This endeavor is to be weightless.
Like the things you do everyday. Coffee in the morning. Walking the little dog. Brushing your teeth. Getting the mail.
The 2"x 2" size is meant to be manageable. Portable. Accessible. Available. Use what is at hand. Materials for mark-making can be traditonal art materials, junk mail, and nail polish.
